A Total of 1,743 Films from 69 Countries!!!

We are pleased to announce the Official Result of Entry Submission for the International Competition of the 6th Asiana International Short Film Festival (AISFF2008), the one and only international competitive short film festival in Korea.

This year, over 1,743 films including 933 international and 448 domestic films from 69 countries were submitted to the Festival. This records the largest submission  number in AISFF History. Compared with last year, domestic submissions are increased by 18%, international submissions by 30%, thus a total of 26% is augmented. The Percentage for Continentals is as follows; Asia (45.4%), Europe (36.4%), North America(7.3), South America(4.8) Oceania (2.5) and other (3.4).

When viewed by oversea nations, the number of entries from France, United States, Germany, Spain and Japan are in order. Indeed, submissions from South America (Spain,  Mexico, Brazil) have been showing a remarkable growth not only in number but also in quality by and large. Besides that, submissions from Asian countries have constantly been growing. Among other nations, countries like Nepal, Mali, Herzegovina, Dominique, Nigeria, Azerbaijan, Iceland, Tunisia. Latvia, and Slovakia also participated at AISFF for International Competition. With all the shorts from all these various places, AISFF 2008 will be the best feast ever for our Korean audience.

In terms of Genres, Fiction (68.1%), Animation (19.7%), Documentary (7.6%) and Experimental film (2.9%) are positioned. The portion of Fiction is leading in number both domestically and internationally. However, there is a wide range of shorts with challenging minds and new perspectives, which tends to extend the dimension and horizon for short film, by crossing across genre boundaries.

AISFF, with constant attentions from all around short filmmakers, will be the best place to see the newest trend of world cinema through eyes of short films, the future of cinema and the cinematic variety and cultural diversity.

We do thank all of you for your precious submissions. We are looking forward to your continuous support and attention for AISFF.

Official Selection will be announced on September 18th (Thursday) at the festival web site (www.aisff.org) for AISFF 2008 International Competition.
